Do you have a special sister...I DO

Do you have a special sister? I DO
Many of you have seen and heard me talk about my sister...
Debi Lynn is the name she was given by my parents, but I know her as best friend.
See I am the baby and she will sure tell you I know it and that I am spoiled. Growing up Debi was the older sister that I loved to tag along behind. It was a good thing I did because mom and dad made her take me every where. Even on most of her dates. If she didn't do what I liked I would tell on her. It really is a wonder I am still alive ti tell it. I knew she loved me,but I got on her last nerve. Little did she know I was learning and watching her. She taught me the good and the bad. I had some fun times doing things I shouldn't with my sister. I do think the things I learned help make me who I am today.
My sister was always my bed partner. We shared a room until she left home. I will never forget when I found out she was leaving home how my heart sank. Oh yea I would get more and finally a room alone, but I would miss her so much. I didn't let her get far from my sight though. I started staying nights with her and some summers when she lived away. As we both started to become older we started not only to grow as sisters, but friends. We even chased a few boys, danced, took karate, learned to drive, shop, cook and many more things I better not tell!!!
The one thing we did that will always be special in my teen years was sing together. We grew up singing and Debi playing the guitar, but we wanted to travel. We got us an Agent and that we did..travel. Oh not to far but it wasn't because the talent wasn't there. My sister could sure sing and I sang tenor. We had so much fun playing the local places. See something I didn't realize at the time is all the things were bounding us closer together.
Both of us married and started our families. We married men with the same name and even were pregnant together.
Through all of these things I can never say she wasn't there for me. She wiped my tears, fought my fights and even rescued me when I needed help.
In the past two years losing our mom was very hard on us,but my sister stepped up once again. Even through the hard time she was having she became like a mom to me. See I am the baby and she knew I would need her.Not to long after that my husband walked out. I wanted to call my mom so bad,but she was gone. With a broken heart I called my sister and within days she was here .She dropped everything she was doing, traveled down to Mississippi and got me a lawyer. She even had to get me out of bed and get me to him because I couldn't. Never once has she ever complained. She has stood by me,lifted me up and even had to carry me.
She has been my mom,my friend and my SISTER
Love you Debi more than words can say.

  1. What a wonderful tribute. It truly brought tears to my eyes. I'm 11.5 years older than my sister so we never had quite the same closeness, but I know she would do anything for me and vice-versa.

  4. What a blessing to have such a special bond with your sister. Having 4 brothers, I always wondered what it would be like to have a sister. Can you adopt me as one??? hehe I'm so glad that she has always been there for you and I have no doubt that you've always been there for her as well. Love that picture of the both of you:-) xoxo
